Dr. Nawal Al Mahyijari, Board certified in General Adult Psychiatry, Clinical Fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, has been practicing psychiatry for almost 8 years. She completed her BSc in 2005, her MD in 2008, her residency at Oman Medical Specialty Board in 2015, and her specialization in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (Psychosomatic) Psychiatry at the University of McGill, Canada. In addition, she did pieces of training in Women’s Mental Health and Adult Psycho-oncology. She is also skillful in Cognitive Behavioral therapy and interpersonal psychotherapy skills. She is holding professional membership internationally as well as in Oman. Few are – a member of the American Psychosomatic Society – Member of International Association for Women’s Mental Health – Member of the International Psycho-Oncology Society. Dr. Nawal has excellent skills in conducting training programs.
Dr. Nawal started practicing as a psychiatrist in the Ministry of Health Oman in 2015; from 2015 to 2017 in a Tertiary Mental Health Hospital and from 2017 to 2021 in Royal Hospital, which is the biggest tertiary hospital in Oman where she established and lead the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Unit. Dr. Nawal has published several scientific papers in national and international journals. She is a certified trainer in Emotional Intelligence and Clinician-Patient-communication skills. She is a member and a leader in several administrative and volunteering initiatives. She has a special interest in the preventive and survivorship phases in oncology. Her vision is to partner with local, and international oncology institutes and well-established volunteering groups to provide comprehensive and compassionate psychosocial oncology services.
