a consultant medical oncologist and clinical researcher focusing on the treatment of patients with genitourinary cancers including prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular tumors. He also serves as Head of the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) focusing on supporting and expanding the clinical research capacity at SQCCCRC. He is American Board Certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine, and a member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
Prior to joining SQCCCRC, he received his Doctorate in Medicine from the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the Rochester Regional Health System in Rochester, New York, and a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at the National Cancer Institute (NCI)/National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. After completing fellowship, he continued on to work at the NCI’s Genitourinary Malignancies Branch and Urologic Oncology Branch where he served as a staff clinician and associate research physician leading a number of early phase investigational clinical trials for patients with kidney and prostate cancer. He has served as a member on several professional and scientific committees including the Prostate Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory drug approvals workshop.
