The Genitourinary (GU) Cancers Program at SQCCCRC provides comprehensive and compassionate care for patients with prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular cancers, as well as other rare tumors.
A part of our patient centered approach, we have established the Prostate One Stop Clinic (POSC) in order to expedite the evaluation of newly diagnosed prostate cancer with state-of-the-art diagnostic and staging procedures.
Prior to your arrival at the POSC, your medical records will be reviewed by an expert team and physicians and nurses who will determine any missing tests that still need to be performed or reviewed.
After arriving at the POSC, you will be seen by a team of highly skilled urologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, geneticists, pharmacists and nurses.
This multi-disciplinary, patient-centered approach will ensure that treatment recommendations you receive will fall in line with the latest international guidelines and scientific evidence, as well as take into consideration the unique sensitivities of the local cultural and patient preferences.
We prioritize a holistic approach for the care of our patients and work alongside a specialized team of pain and palliative care physicians, mental health professionals, physical therapists, nutritionists, speech therapists and social workers who will all see your during your visit to the one stop clinic.
During your visit you may get additional blood tests, imaging tests (such as a prostate MRI and PSMA PET scan) and diagnostic tests (such as a prostate biopsy) depending on your case.
The medical team will also discuss with you any research studies that you may be eligible for and interested in participating in.
Your case will then be discussed in the weekly multi-institutional multi-disciplinary tumor board meeting (MDT) after which a final recommendation for your care will be made and communicated to you in person.
Services provided include:
