The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Centre obtained the international accreditation certificate from the Joint Commission International (JCI) in June 2023. It is one of the most prestigious international accreditation institutions working to enhance the quality of health care in the world. It is characterized by accurate, rigorous, and comprehensive evaluation procedures covering all clinical and administrative aspects, from the patient’s admission into the health facility until the time of their discharge. The international accreditation came after passing seven stages:

Signing a joint agreement with the International Committee for Accreditation of Health Facilities
September 2019
The first phase, evaluating the Center’s building
January 2020 – April 2021
The second phase, setting standards and policies
October 2021
The third phase, testing the Center’s readiness to receive patients
May 2022
The fourth stage, presenting workshops to improve performance
August 2022
The fifth phase, an initial assessment of the Center’s performance
January 2023
The sixth stage, a simulation of the final assessment.
June 2023
The seventh stage, final evaluation and obtaining international accreditation from JCI.
The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Centre is the first governmental health institution in the Sultanate of Oman to obtain such international accreditation in such a short time frame among all the health institutions in the Sultanate of Oman, in spite of the strict standards enforced to by the Joint International Commission (JCI) for Accreditation of Health Institutions.
