Dr. Rajini Kausalya is a senior consultant and head of Anesthesia in Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer care and Research center, Muscat.
She completed her undergraduate and structured postgraduate training in CMC Vellore, a premier institution in India. Joined the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and continued to work there until joining the MOH Oman a couple of years ago. After a stint there, she joined our center.
She has passed the European Diploma in Regional anesthesia, Diploma in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management from Montpellier University, France and courses in medical Simulation from Singapore University and from UK. She is one of the founding members of the core instructor faculty of Emergency Cardiac Care courses, BLS and ACLS in Oman, instructing for more than 25 years, and instructor in Advanced Trauma Life support (ATLS) since its inception in Oman. She is a founding member of the Oman Society of Anesthesia and Critical Care (OSACC). Also, is a Core faculty of the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) since its formation and has chaired several committees and sub-committees over the years, continuing to be a faculty and a member of committees there. Is an examiner of OMSB and the Royal College of Anesthetists of Ireland. Renowned teacher and mentor of several cohorts of Anesthesia residents, having won the best teacher award from OMSB. Taken part in Research with several publications in International and National journals.
Initiated Regional anesthesia in Oman and has been a champion in the practice and teaching of Regional anesthesia ever since. Dr. Rajini has organized high level workshops in Regional Anesthesia, involving and teaching all anesthetists in Oman. She is a member of the European Society of Regional Anesthesia (ESRA) and the New York Society of Regional Anesthesia (NYSORA). Have been with the NYSORA faculty in organizing workshops in the UAE and Africa. NYSORA team had come to Muscat due to the concentrated efforts of Dr. Rajini. The First International Conference in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine in Oman, with faculty from world over was organized by Dr. Rajini with Hands on cadaver workshops, ultrasound and nerve stimulator guided hands on stations and interactive sessions for two days.
Dr. Rajini has travelled as invited speaker to deliver presentations in conferences and workshops.
Had been involved with the Oncology team, inserting and maintaining all the Hickman lines and Porta caths with expertise in inserting Hickman and Porta cath lines in pediatric haematological cancer patients, starting from the infant period. Now practicing Oncoanesthesia in high risk patients with advanced monitoring and being an efficient administrator of the department as well. Is now a member of the Society of Onco-anesthesia and Perioperative Care (SOAPC).
