Dr. Maha Al Shaibi is a senior consultant Surgical oncologist focusing on Sarcoma, gastrointestinal cancer, peritoneal surface malignancies and melanoma with dual accreditation by the Royal College of physicians and surgeons in Canada. She is a Sultan Qaboos University graduate who was trained in general surgery at McGill University and did her fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Toronto. She has established the surgical oncology unit at SQUH focusing on a multidisciplinary approach and Evidence-based practices to make it THE center for complex surgical oncology in the country.
She served multiple admittivities posts including the director of development and quality attaining the hospital platinum level accreditation Canada International, the head of the department of surgical division at SQCCCRC during its induction spearheading the translation of the project to reality, as well as an active member in many hospital-based and national committees. She is a passionate educator to undergraduate medical students and surgical residents under Oman medical specialty Board and was awarded a number of teaching awards in her carrier. She is currently involved in the establishment of a fellowship training program in Oman under the Arab Board of health specialization.
