Dr. Prashant Deshpande is Consultant Molecular Pathologist in the Clinical Laboratory at SQCCCRC, Muscat. He has completed his postgraduation (MD Pathology) and post-doctoral fellowship in Hematopathology from Tata Memorial Center Mumbai India (2008-2013), a leading tertiary cancer care center in India. He further extended his expertise in molecular diagnostics by undergoing additional post-doctoral fellowship in Molecular Hematology at Christian Medical College, Vellore (2013-2015). He has been working as consultant molecular pathologist and hematopathologist since last 8 years. He is dedicated towards providing high quality laboratory services and research in his field of expertise. He has a considerable experience in planning, designing and establishing the clinical flow cytometry and molecular diagnostic laboratories. He has also worked in an international reference laboratory before joining SQCCCRC. He has authored a chapter in institutional guidelines and has multiple peer reviewed publications in international journals. He is a member of Association of Molecular Pathologist (AMP), the Royal College of Pathology (Diplomat), Molecular Pathology Association of India, The Cytometry Society and Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI); and has worked as a member of document drafting committees focused on developing guidelines for molecular diagnostics in solid and hematology cancers. His areas of interest include molecular pathology, quality management, hematopathology and bioinformatics.
